Migration Talk Hub

A network of and for migration scholars engaging with the media and serving as a resource for journalists seeking expertise in migration and mobility.

Migration Talk Hub is a collaborative initiative designed to support migration scholars who whish to communicate their research beyond academia and engage with media professionals. It also serves as a point of contact for journalists seeking expert perspectives on migration and mobility-related topics. The Hub aims for a more nuanced, responsible, and humanising way of talking about migration in the public sphere.

Conceived as a network, it aims to foster constructive exchange between scholars, journalists and media producers, and to strengthen the visibility and accessibility of migration research in the public sphere. Through a database of migration scholars open to media engagement, the Hub connects researchers and media professionals, acting as a direct intermediary. With connections to civil society organisations, Migration Talk Hub seeks to broaden the range of voices present in public debates and to promote informed, contextualised perspectives. The Hub encourages scholars to work alongside the communities with whom they conduct research so that individuals with lived migration experiences can also take the floor and shape their own narratives.

For migration-mobility scholars, the Hub provides a collaborative space to exchange experiences, develop practical skills, and strengthen collective capacity to shape public conversations on migration. Through workshops, discussions, and shared resources, participants learn how to respond to media requests, communicate complex findings in accessible ways, and navigate the opportunities and constraints of media work. The goal is not only to prepare scholars to become confident, well-informed spokespersons on migration issues, but also to expand the field of voices speaking in the media.
